Journal 200 Words

The logic humans have about the concept of a “place” is that it “connects architecture to its context and makes it responsive to human needs.”[1] This meaning brings with it social and cultural values. For something to be called a place, the spaces must be organised and presented in such a way to bring meaning and a connection to a person. Different places restrict our actions and behaviour to certain categories.

Cyberspace is becoming very popular in today’s society and will become the way of the future. Cyberspace is taking over what is the physical world, the place where humans live and interact with others. In cyberspace things are not very different. People will begin to enter cyberspace at first as a way to socialise and interact with others. Things change though, as humans evolve and adapt to such cyberspaces they will begin to not only socialise in them but it will become part of their daily life. They will begin to live and breathe cyberspaces.

Architects, landscape architects, town planners and interior designers have been conducting their experiments in the physical world for thousands of years. These places which they design “support everyday economic, cultural, educational, and other activities.” [1]

To make a physical place, conditions must be laid out that will bring upon the sense of belonging. Arranging objects and defining spaces helps create and environment which will support a specific function. These places will still carry with it certain aspects of social and cultural origins for the community. During the process of place-making, designers do not have full control over all aspects of a place. The form is extensively but not solely under their control, the function of a particular place is determined by the client

A clear message from the author is that the behaviours which humans experience in places in the physical world is able to be carried onto Cyber-Places. Any behavioural patterns learned in the physical space will be exerted and help humans make better use of cyberspace. Cyberspace can be organised in such a way to manipulate the physical world so the transition from the physical to cyber is smooth and effortless.

The future of the digital realm will help to create opportunities that simply do not exist or are not physically possible in the physical space. It is easy to say that there will be an invasion of digital technology which will ultimately consume humans. Humans will begin to adopt the practices used in the real physical and apply them to Cyberspace. The adoption of new abilities offered by new technology these days will become essential. Tasks which were once easily practise in the physical world will become difficult as people will not now is not only to emulate the physical world into digital form but to make the transition between the two seem so seeming less that users will not know what dimension they are currently in.

Invasion of planet Earth has always crossed the mind of habitants of neighbouring galaxies. The evolution of mankind has allowed domination of the planet Earth for a number of decades.

Dominance over a planet meant that the Earth’s resources are being run dry.
With little resources left on Earth mankind has split into two fractions, one fraction decided to leave Earth in search for a habitable planet in a distance galaxy whilst the other stayed behind to finish off whatever resources are left.

In 2050 due to escalating tension, a civil war has now broken out between the two fractions.

Set can be defined as an object which begins in one form will “set” and slowly change into another form. An example to describe this is to take an element such as jelly; it begins as liquid and over time will change and become a solid as the gelatine cools.

Objects which are able to change from one state to another are a great phenomenon. During the two states an evolutionary process is said to be occurring. With evolution come new shapes and functions. Subtle changes in an object’s shape can have their function dramatically changed, a transition can be seen from the old to new state of an object; thus evolution has happened.
